Falcons Blank Pasadena to Start League Play

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team shut out visiting Pasadena 3-0 in its Pacific League opener on Dec. 5. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Falcons secured a 3-1 nonleague victory at Temple City on Nov. 30 as sophomore Kira Lee scored a hat trick. Senior Olivia Clark was credited with a pair of assists, while sophomore Audrey Lum had one assist.
Crescenta Valley (3-0 overall, 1-0 in league) will battle Dana Hills High of Dana Point and El Dorado High of Placentia in a pair of Best in the West Tournament games on Dec. 9 before resuming league action at Hoover High on Dec. 12 at 5:15 p.m.

HOOVER
The Tornados lost to visiting Arcadia 5-0 in their Pacific League opener on Dec. 5.
Hoover blanked visiting Village Christian High of Sun Valley, 3-0, in a nonleague match on Dec. 2. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Tornados (2-4, 0-1) will battle Magnolia High of Anaheim and Fullerton in a pair of Newport Harbor Tournament matches on Dec. 9 before resuming league action against visiting Crescenta Valley on Dec. 12 at 5:15 p.m.

GLENDALE
The Nitros were shut out by visiting Burroughs High of Burbank 3-0 in their Pacific League opener on Dec. 5.
Glendale lost at Schurr High in Montebello 3-0 in a nonleague match on Dec. 1.
Senior Kathleen Argueta recorded two shots on goal, while freshman Elena Shakhbadaryan had one shot on goal. Senior Amelia Knur finished with four saves in the second half, while junior Daniela Hernandez tallied two saves in the first half.
The Nitros narrowly lost at Blair High in Pasadena 2-1 in a nonleague match on Nov. 30.
Freshman Jazell Martinez scored one goal, junior Grace Petrossians was credited with an assist and Shakhbadaryan had two shots on goal. Hernandez contributed four saves, while Knur finished with two saves.
Glendale (0-6, 0-1) will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league match on Dec. 12 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Arcadia on Dec. 15.
