Falcons Hold Off La Cañada

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team picked up a 3-2 season-opening victory at La Cañada on Nov. 29.
Trailing 1-0, Falcons freshman Arianna Dominguez scored the equalizer in the 15th minute. Crescenta Valley took the lead in the 51st minute on a goal by junior Leah Farhadian before junior Emily Martinez added an insurance goal 16 minutes later.
The Falcons (1-0 overall) will open Pacific League action by hosting Pasadena on Dec. 5 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Muir High in Pasadena on Dec. 8.


HOOVER

The Tornados routed visiting Northridge Academy 8-0 in a nonleague match on Nov. 29 as senior Fiona Gilbert scored a hat trick.
Senior captain Lillian Yousefian and junior Amanda Laguna each tallied two goals, while senior captain Breann Pimenta scored her first goal of the season.
Hoover (1-3) will host Village Christian High of Sun Valley for a nonleague match on Dec. 2 at noon before hosting Arcadia for its Pacific League opener on Dec. 5.


GLENDALE

The Nitros lost at Monrovia 9-0 in a nonleague match on Nov. 27. Glendale (0-3) will open Pacific League action by hosting Burroughs High of Burbank on Dec. 5 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Burbank on Dec. 8.
