Ray, Crescenta Valley Shine in Tournament Play

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team fell to Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 59-58 in a Westside Challenge game on Nov. 29, as senior Kylie Ray finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.
Junior Keira Calaguas registered 14 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals, while junior Darby Stayton contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, two steals, two assists and one block. Freshman Kelen Shajanian chipped in nine points and one steal, while freshman Ava Gharib finished with six rebounds, four points and one steal. Freshman Yashvi Ahir tallied three rebounds, two points and two assists, while sophomore Amelia Parmentier had one rebound.
The Falcons posted a narrow 51-49 tournament victory over Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies on Nov. 27, as Ray compiled 19 rebounds, 18 points, six assists and one steal.
Ahir produced 12 points, three rebounds and one assist, Stayton finished with 12 rebounds, nine points, one block and one steal, and Calaguas tallied eight points, four rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block. Parmentier contributed six rebounds, four points and one assist, while Shajanian chipped in two points and one assist. Freshman Anik Nortikyan recorded one block and one rebound, while freshman Lylah Dunlavey was credited with one assist.
The Falcons (2-1) will open Pacific League action at Pasadena on Dec. 5 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Muir High of Pasadena on Dec. 8.


GLENDALE

Glendale High School junior Natalia Andriassian tallied 11 points to help the Nitros beat San Marino in a tournament game on Nov. 28.

The Nitros suffered their first loss of the campaign to Crossroads High of Santa Monica 44-38 in a San Marino Tournament game on Nov. 29. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale opened tournament action with a 58-37 victory over host San Marino on Nov. 28, as junior Christina Koshkerian racked up 22 points.
Senior captain Sella Koshkerian registered 13 points, while junior Natalia Andriassian scored 11 points. Junior Aleek Khanamerian chipped in five points, senior captain Carmen Avedian tallied four points and senior Kalin Zadoori finished with three points.
Following the conclusion of the San Marino Tournament on Dec. 2, the Nitros (5-1) will open Pacific League action at Burroughs High in Burbank on Dec. 5 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Burbank on Dec. 8.


HOOVER

The Tornados lost to Muir High of Pasadena 74-15 in a Rosemead Tournament game on Nov. 29.
Freshman Aleena Kalanijan scored five points, junior Iren Musayelyan, sophomore Yeva Awades and sophomore Michelle Cline each tallied three points, and junior Yadhira Sanchez Lopez chipped in one point.
Hoover suffered a 55-18 loss against host Rosemead in its tournament opener on Nov. 28.
Junior captain Emily Aghazarian, Musayelyan and Cline each contributed four points, while sophomore Elva Aghajanyan and Kalanijan each had two points.
Following the conclusion of the Rosemead Tournament on Dec. 2, the Tornados (1-2) will open Pacific League action at Arcadia on Dec. 5 before hosting Pasadena on Dec. 7.
