Crescenta Valley Sweeps Bravo Tournament

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Bravo High of Los Angeles 56-36 in its Bravo Tournament finale on Nov. 16.
Vatche Hairapetian racked up 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals, Vaughn Zargarian contributed 15 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Derek Najarian registered 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Grikor Moghoyan tallied six points, four assists, three steals and one rebound, while Lachlan Blunt finished with six points, four rebounds and one block. Logan Freemon recorded eight rebounds, one point and one steal, Nick Altounian collected three rebounds, three assists and one steal, and Michael Sahagian had one steal, one block, one rebound and one assist.
The Falcons won their third consecutive tournament game with a 75-34 victory over Sotomayor High of Los Angeles on Nov. 25.
Zargarian contributed 16 points, three rebounds and one assist, while Najarian produced 10 points, three steals and two assists. Moghoyan recorded nine points, three steals, two assists, one block and one rebound, while Dylan Shaghoian tallied nine points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. Arman Bedrossian registered six points, six rebounds, one steal and one block, while Altounian finished with six points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal. Tishan Ahir collected five points, two rebounds and one steal, Blunt posted six rebounds, four points, two assists and one block, and Hairapetian notched four points, two rebounds and one assist. Freemon scored three points with three blocks and three rebounds, Sahagian chipped in three points, one rebound and one assist, and Andrew Ghazarian had four rebounds and two assists.
CVHS posted a 78-64 tournament victory over Hamilton High of Los Angeles on Nov. 14.
Zargarian racked up 20 points, four assists, four rebounds and three steals, while Najarian tallied 19 points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists. Freemon finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals, while Sahagian recorded eight points, three assists and one rebound. Hairapetian registered six points, three steals and one rebound, Blunt produced nine rebounds, five points, four steals and one assist, and Altounian contributed four points, three steals and one rebound. Moghoyan chipped in three rebounds, three assists, three steals and two points, Shaghoian scored three points and Bedrossian had two rebounds.
The Falcons routed Marshall High of Los Angeles 83-39 in their season and tournament opener on Nov. 13.
Zargarian contributed 18 points, six rebounds and four assists, Najarian produced 14 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Freemon tallied 11 points and four rebounds. Michael Sahagian scored 14 points, while Shaghoian chipped in 10 points.
Crescenta Valley (4-0 overall) will finish competing in the San Gabriel Tournament on Nov. 25 before opening Pacific League action at Pasadena on Dec. 5.


GLENDALE

Glendale High School senior Haig Jivalagian chipped in 22 points during a nonleague game against San Marino on Nov. 21.

The Nitros lost at San Marino 98-86 in a nonleague game on Nov. 21 as senior Haig Jivalagian finished with 22 points.
Senior Mika Petrosian contributed 15 points, junior Joshua Ballard scored 14 points and junior Roman Ramirez produced 12 points. Sophomore Mason Manalo recorded nine points, senior Anthony Agakhanyan tallied seven points and senior Cayden Mailed chipped in four points. Senior Rein Rigor had two points, while senior Harout Karapetyan had one point.
Glendale picked up a 66-53 nonleague victory at AGBU in Canoga Park on Nov. 17.
Petrosian registered 21 points, Ballard contributed 18 points and Jivalagian produced 15 points. Ramirez scored six points, Agakhanyan chipped in four points and Rigor had two points.
The Nitros secured a 77-66 victory over visiting La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena in its season opener on Nov. 15.
Ballard finished with 23 points, Jivalagian tallied 17 points and Ramirez recorded 10 points. Rigor scored six points, Petrosian produced five points, and Mailed, Manalo and Agakhanyan each had two points.
Glendale (2-1) will compete in the San Dimas Tournament next week, starting with a matchup against Ontario Christian on Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m.


HOOVER

Hoover High School senior Zack Van Patten posted a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists to help the Tornados win a nonleague game against Workman High on Nov. 17.

The Tornados posted a 55-50 nonleague victory at Workman High in the City of Industry on Nov. 17.
Senior Zack Van Patten recorded 21 points, 10 assists, six rebounds, three steals and two blocks, while senior Hakop Demirjian finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two assists. Sophomore Justin Herrera tallied 17 points, four assists, four steals and one rebound, senior Michael Shamoun 14 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and three assists, and sophomore Harout Godzhoyan 11 points, six steals, two rebounds and two assists. Junior Arin Tahmasian contributed seven rebounds, two points, two assists and one block, while sophomore Nick Katchoyan had one block.
Hoover lost at San Marino 73-40 in a nonleague game on Nov. 15, as Van Patten racked up 17 points, seven assists, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
Herrera chipped in eight points, four rebounds and three steals, junior Jaden Duncan scored six points with four rebounds, and Godzhoyan tallied six points, two rebounds and two steals. Shamoun registered three points, three rebounds and two steals, Demirjian contributed four rebounds and one steal, and Tahmasian produced three rebounds and one steal.
The Tornados defeated visiting Monrovia 79-41 in their season opener on Nov. 13, as Van Patten finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Herrera registered 14 points, six assists and three rebounds, while Shamoun tallied eight rebounds, six points, three assists and two steals. Duncan recorded six rebounds, five points and one steal, while Godzhoyan contributed three points, two steals, one rebound and one assist. Demirjian produced 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal, while Tahmasian had two rebounds and one assist.
Hoover (2-1) will finish competing in the San Gabriel Tournament on Nov. 25 before opening Pacific League action at Arcadia on Dec. 5.
