Nitros, Tornados Drop Season Openers

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ soccer team lost at La Cañada 11-0 in a nonleague match on Nov. 15. Senior Amelia Knur recorded seven saves, while junior Daniela Hernandez had two saves.
The Nitros suffered a 9-1 season-opening loss at Marlborough High in Los Angeles on Nov. 14, as junior Grace Petrossian scored the lone goal on a free kick. Knur tallied eight saves, while Hernandez finished with three saves.
Glendale (0-2 overall) will visit Monrovia for a nonleague match on Nov. 27 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Blair High in Pasadena on Nov. 30.


HOOVER

The Tornados lost to visiting Notre Dame Academy of Los Angeles 4-2 in a nonleague match on Nov. 17. Senior Fiona Gilbert scored the game’s opening goal in the first half, while senior Isabella Quinones’ goal in the second half tied the match, 2-2.
Hoover was shut out by visiting Birmingham High of Lake Balboa 3-0 in a nonleague match on Nov. 15.
The Tornados suffered a 7-1 season-opening loss at La Cañada on Nov. 13, as Gilbert scored the lone goal.
Hoover (0-3) will visit Northridge Academy for a nonleague match on Nov. 29 at 5:15 p.m. before hosting Village Christian High of Sun Valley on Dec. 2.


CRESCENTA VALLEY

The Falcons will open the regular season at La Cañada on Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. Crescenta Valley will then visit Temple City for a nonleague match on Nov. 30 at 4 p.m. before opening Pacific League action against visiting Pasadena on Dec. 5.
