GPD Arrests Suspect in Shooting

The Glendale Police Department announced on Wednesday that GPD detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Task Force arrested a 42-year-old Glendale man in connection with a recent shooting near the intersection of Wabasso Way and Bonita Drive in Glendale on Oct. 30.
At the time of the shooting, Glendale patrol officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the area. They also received a call from the victim, reporting he had been shot in the stomach, according to a GPD press release.
The 39-year-old victim was transported to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena for emergency surgery. He survived his injuries.
Surveillance footage obtained by detectives shows the exchange of gunfire between two vehicles.
“Although the victim was unable to provide suspect details, Glendale detectives, with the assistance of the GPD-based Verdugo Regional Crime Laboratory, pursued leads and conducted a thorough investigation, resulting in the identification and tracking of the shooting suspect,” said Sgt. Victor Jackson, the department’s public information officer.
Detectives were able to track the suspect to Florida, where he was arrested. The suspect is now in custody, facing attempted murder charges. Extradition proceedings are underway to get him back to California.
