The Glendale Educational Foundation held its 19th annual State of the Schools event, which hosted more than 100 attendees, at the Impressions Banquet Hall in downtown Glendale on Oct. 25.
For the occasion, GEF recognized the Educational Excellence Awardees: Teacher of the Year Narine Yapundjian, Classified Employee of the Year Hrachik Sardarbegian and Community Partner of the Year, The Walt Disney Company.
GEF Board President Robert Gordon also outlined a few initiatives GEF is working on to continue nurturing the GUSD community, including a partnership with Antaeus Theatre and their ongoing commitment to generating internship opportunities for high school students across local businesses and public sectors.
This academic year represents the GEF’s 19th year of enriching education for GUSD students. “Together, we are committed to propelling GEF’s mission to invest in future leaders,” Gordon said.
Among the guests were GEF Board President Robert Gordon, Mayor Dan Brotman, City Manager Roubik Golanian, Glendale Unified School District Board of Education President Jennifer Freemon, Councilwoman Paula Devine and Superintendent Darneika Watson.
Some of the sponsors for the event were Pacific BMW, The Walt Disney Company, The Cameron Fund, Gregg Bussjaeger Memorial Foundation, Star Ford, Whyte Family Trust, Jewel City Group at Morgan Stanley, Chip and Nancy Stone, and Toni and Vince Espinoza.
