Crescenta Valley Falls Short of Pacific League Title

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ water polo team fell to Burbank 6-5 in the Pacific League Tournament championship game on Oct. 26. Mark Abdou tallied eight saves, Alex Movsesyan scored three goals, and Daron Alexanians and Levon Babayan each had one goal.
The Falcons defeated Burroughs High of Burbank 11-3 in the league semifinals on Oct. 24. Abdou racked up 13 saves, Aaron Choi scored four goals and Sebastian Rivera tallied three goals. Movsesyan chipped in two goals, while Devin Janparian and Brayden Shabani each added one goal.
Crescenta Valley posted a 9-2 victory over Glendale in the first round of the league tournament on Oct. 20. Abdou finished with 10 saves, Edgar Galstyan, Babayan and Rivera each scored twice, and Alexanians, Shabani and Janparian each had one goal.
The Falcons finished the regular season second in league with a 6-5 record (15-16 overall). The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 28 at 9 a.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros edged Hoover High 4-3 in their Pacific League Tournament finale on Oct. 26. Artin Ghazaryan scored two goals, while August Kalaba and Zhan Davtyan each had one goal.
Glendale defeated Pasadena 16-6 in a tournament prelim game on Oct. 24, as David Zakaryan and Vardges Hakobyan each recorded three goals. Narek Mheryan, Daniel Petrossian, Emin Abnussi and Karlen Avetisyan each scored two goals, Jordan Rosner and Davtyan each finished with one goal, and Arno Ghazaryan tallied three blocks.
The Nitros suffered a 13-2 loss against Burbank in a tournament prelim game on Oct. 24. Zakaryan recorded three saves, while Aidan Fieda and Davtyan each scored one goal.
Glendale lost to Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta 9-2 in a first-round game on Oct. 20. Zakaryan produced four saves, Artin Ghazaryan contributed one goal and one block, and Andrew Klujian chipped in one goal.
The Nitros posted a narrow 7-5 victory over Hoover in their league tournament opener on Oct. 20. Artin Ghazaryan registered four goals and two blocks, while Kalaba scored three goals. Zakaryan tallied four saves and one steal, while Hakobyan was credited with one steal.
Glendale finished the regular season fifth in league with a 6-6 record (18-18 overall). The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 28 at 9 a.m.

Senior Tigran Mkrtumyan, junior Haik Aghadjanian and junior Davit Harutyunyan each contributed two goals, while junior Rafael Davtyan and Arthur Tarkhchyan each had one goal.
The Tornados lost to Glendale 7-5 in their tournament opener on Oct. 20. David Tarkhchyan recorded two goals, while Tarakhchyan, Arthur Tarkhchyan and Harutyunyan each produced one goal. Hoover finished the regular season sixth in league with a 4-6 record (14-10 overall). The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 28.
