Tornados Trounce Gabrielino for First Win

The Hoover High School varsity football team secured its first win of the season with a 34-6 victory over visiting Gabrielino High of San Gabriel on Sept. 1.
Senior quarterback Ethan Davis was efficient in the pocket, completing 5 of 8 passes for 143 yards with two touchdowns.
Junior Ryan O finished with 11 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns, while junior Davion Holloway made two receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. Junior Javon Lymon recorded five carries for 36 yards and a touchdown, and junior Joel Jauregui added a 6-yard touchdown catch. Tornados senior Aram Darbinyan also made two catches for 42 yards.
The Tornados (1-2 overall) hosted South Pasadena for a nonleague contest on Sept. 8; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Hoover will host Bernstein High of Hollywood in a nonleague game on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High on Sept. 22.
