The Glendale High School varsity boys’ water polo team picked up a season-opening 11-9 victory at La Cañada on Wednesday as senior Artin Ghazaryan led with a team-high three goals.
Senior Andrew Klujian and junior Robert Lazaryan each scored twice, while senior Arno Ghazaryan, senior Edgar Abnussi, junior Nshan Demirtshyan and junior August Kalaba each had one goal.
The Nitros (1-0 overall) will host Crespi High of Encino in a nonleague game on Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting San Dimas the following day.
HOOVER
The Tornados recently kicked off their season with an away game at Whittier; the result was unavailable by the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
Hoover will compete in the Corona Tournament next week before hosting Rowland High of Rowland Heights for a nonleague game on Sept. 6
CRESCENTA VALLEY
The Falcons opened the regular season by competing in the Pasadena Polytechnic tournament yesterday; the games against La Cañada and Sunny Hills High of Fullerton finished after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
CVHS will finish tournament pool play against Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge today at 10 a.m. before its tournament finale at either noon or 1 p.m. The Falcons will next visit South Pasadena in a nonleague game on Aug. 29 at 4 p.m. before visiting San Marino on Sept. 6.
