Nitros Lose; Tornados Conclude Season

The Glendale High School varsity softball team lost at Arcadia, 20-0, in a Pacific League game on Monday as sophomore Natalie Minkler collected the lone base hit.
Minkler pitched a pair of innings with three strikeouts while sophomore teammate Jade Marquez pitched two innings in relief.
The fifth-place Nitros (5-16 overall, 2-5 in league) will visit Pasadena for a league game on Tuesday, April 25, at 3:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Hoover High School varsity softball team includes Geryl Anne Tiu (front, from left), Natalie Tolbert, Evelyn Ortiz, Bellarose Luna and Koi Abrego Castro. Back: Paola Cano, Sophia Hernandez, Stephanie Rodriguez, Carissa Garcia, Aliyaah Serna, Michelle Cline and Kiahana Montano.

In a recent turn of events, the Tornados will be forfeiting the remainder of their season due to the inability to field a varsity team. Hoover athletic director Jack Van Patten said the varsity squad does not have enough healthy players to field a team for the rest of the campaign but clarified that it was not disbanded and is expected next season.
The Tornados concluded their shortened campaign with a 1-6 overall record (0-4 in league).
