Crescenta Valley Defeats Tornados, 15-3

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ tennis team beat Pasadena, 15-3, in a Pacific League match on Wednesday.
The No. 2 team of Luke Yang and Tim Chung swept, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, No. 2 Jayden Lee (6-2, 6-0) and No. 3 Jihyoung Park (6-1, 6-0) each won a pair of sets while alternates Hochan Lee and Alessandro Escos each won a set by a 6-2 score. The No. 1 duo of Ryan Lee and Joseph Choi won a pair of sets by 6-0 scores before alternating with Ryan Lee and Dylan Kim, who added a 6-1 victory. The No. 3 tandem of Brandon Park and Collin Kim won two sets, 6-3, 6-0, before alternating with Matthew Park and Caleb Kook, who added a 6-0 victory.
The Falcons defeated host Hoover High, 15-3, in a league match on Tuesday. No. 2 Ethan Kim (6-3, 6-2) and No. 3 Dylan Kim (6-4, 6-3) each won a pair of sets, No. 1 Jihyoung Park won a set, 6-3, and alternate Escos added a 6-0 victory. The No. 1 team of Choi and Easan Hamkins (6-1, 6-1, 6-0) and the No. 2 duo of Joshua Kook and Hochan Lee (6-2, 6-0, 6-0) each swept. The No. 3 tandem of Matthew Park and Daniel Lee won a pair of sets, 6-1, 6-0, before the latter alternated with Caleb Kook in the final set and added a 6-1 victory.
CVHS previously lost a league match against visiting Burbank, 12-6. The No. 1 tandem of Ryan and Daniel Lee (6-0, 6-3) and the No. 2 team of Joshua Kook and Hochan Lee (6-1, 6-0) each won a pair of sets, the No. 3 duo of Hamkins and Zachariah Loppnow won a set, 6-0, and No. 3 Aiden Kim added a 6-0 victory.

HOOVER

The Tornados lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High, 15-3, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday.
No. 1 Alec Avedisian won a pair of sets, 6-2, 7-5, while No. 2 Albert Poghosyan won a set by a 6-1 score.
Hoover defeated host Pasadena, 10-8, in a league match on Monday. No. 3 Daniel Shakaryan (6-4, 6-1, 6-0) and the No. 1 team of Christopher Kim and Benjamin Lim (6-2, 6-4, 6-1) each swept while No. 1 Avedisian and No. 2 Poghosyan each won two sets by 6-0 scores.
The Tornados previously edged visiting Pasadena in a league match, 10-8. No. 1 Avedisian (6-0, 6-0, 6-0) and No. 2 Poghosyan (6-4, 6-0, 6-0) each swept while No. 3 Shakaryan (6-1, 6-1) and the No. 1 team of Kim and Lim (6-4, 6-1) each added a pair of wins.

GLENDALE

The Nitros lost to visiting Marshall High of Los Angeles, 12-6, in a nonleague match on Tuesday.
No. 3 Sergey Hryhorian won a pair of sets, 6-3, 6-0, while No. 1 Chris Krajian (6-0) and No. 2 Lazar Ratkovic (6-1) each won a set. The No. 1 team of Tigran Margaryan (6-3), and the No. 2 duo of Vance Cajanding and Amari Richardson (7-6) each won a set.
