CVHS Wins, Glendale Loses on the Diamond

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity softball team routed visiting Muir High of Pasadena, 13-3, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday as sophomore Mila Reddy went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Senior Lily Hinkle registered a double, two runs, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base, sophomore Jasmine Hernandez tallied a double, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base, and sophomore Alexa Johnson produced a double, two runs and a walk. Senior Hayley Neale, who had a double and two RBIs, finished with three strikeouts over three innings while junior Jaiden Sabelis, who was credited with an RBI and stole a base, pitched a pair of scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Sophomore Carley Mulcahey recorded a hit and an RBI, senior Sophia Kupperstein had an RBI, and junior Anais Ochoa scored three runs and stole a base. Sophomore Megumi Ono scored twice and notched an RBI, senior Olivia Peraza had an RBI and sophomore Hannah Wyroski walked once.
The third-place Falcons (12-7 overall, 4-1 in league) will visit Burbank for a league game on Thursday, April 20, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Burroughs High of Burbank on April 25.

Glendale High School sophomore Jade Marquez pitched a pair of scoreless innings in relief during a Pacific League game against Pasadena on Tuesday.

GLENDALE

The Nitros lost to visiting Pasadena, 16-3, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday as freshman Rachel Francis recorded a triple and an RBI.
Sophomore Natalie Minkler, who had a double, two RBIs and a stolen base, produced two strikeouts over three innings in the circle while sophomore Jade Marquez, who walked and scored once, pitched a pair of scoreless innings in relief with one strikeout. Senior Desiree Guzman tallied a hit and a run, juniors Jazmin Combs, Phoebe Antonio and Maria Guerra each had a base hit, and senior Sammy Maylad walked and scored once.
Glendale was previously shut out by visiting Northview High of Covina in a nonleague game, 18-0. Guzman, who had a base hit at the plate, pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, senior Maily Navarrete tallied a base hit and Marquez walked once.
The sixth-place Nitros (4-15 overall, 1-4 in league) will visit Arcadia for a league game on Monday, April 17, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Muir High of Pasadena on April 20.

The Tornados have been idle since losing at Arcadia, 10-0, in a Pacific League game on March 9. According to Hoover’s athletic calendar, the Tornados will host Crescenta Valley High for a league game on Wednesday, April 19, at 3:30 p.m.
