Falcons Win Streak Snapped by St. Francis

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ volleyball team saw its three-match win streak end after losing to visiting St. Francis High of La Cañada Flintridge, 22-25, 29-27, 25-21, 25-19, in a nonleague contest last Saturday.
Senior Drew Puttler amassed 41 assists, six digs, three blocks, one ace and one kill as he continues to climb the school’s all-time career assists ladder. Puttler is sixth all-time in CV history with 1,115 assists and is just 94 setups away from surpassing Josh Misi (1,208) for fifth place.
Junior Logan Freemon racked up 21 kills, nine digs, two blocks and two aces while senior William Allen registered 16 kills, five digs and two aces. Senior Jason Nelson tallied 10 kills and three digs while senior Dylan Hsu collected 19 digs, two aces and two assists. Senior William Chin finished with three kills, one ace and one dig, sophomore Colin Walley recorded two kills, two digs and one assist, and junior Matt Hong had four assists, one ace and one dig.
CVHS swept host Glendale, 25-15, 26-24, 25-18, in a Pacific League match last Friday as Puttler tallied 20 assists, three blocks, two aces, two digs and one kill.
Freemon produced nine kills, two aces and two digs, Allen finished with nine kills and three digs, and Nelson recorded eight kills, five aces, four digs and one block. Walley collected six kills, one block, one assist and one dig while Hong churned out 12 assists, one ace and one kill. Hsu had nine digs and three assists while Chin registered three kills and one block. Senior Henry Guske posted two kills and one dig while junior Joshua Sohn had one ace and one dig.
The Falcons previously picked up a 25-23, 25-17, 25-17 league win over visiting Pasadena as Puttler racked up 31 assists, three digs, two aces and two kills. Freemon finished with 10 kills, three aces and two digs while Allen recorded 10 kills, one ace and one dig. Nelson tallied nine kills, four aces, four digs and one block, Walley had nine kills, and Hong produced 15 assists and two digs. Chin posted six kills and one block, Guske logged three kills, and Sohn notched one kill and one dig. Junior Mason Park had one kill, junior Jackson Roehr had four digs and one ace, and Hsu had three digs and one assist.
Crescenta Valley (15-7 overall, 3-0 in league) will host Glendale for a league match on Wednesday, April 5, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Pasadena on April 11.

GLENDALE

The Nitros swept host South El Monte, 25-18, 25-18, 25-23, in a nonleague matchup on Monday.
Ergueen Herrera finished with eight kills, seven digs and three aces, Thomas Gonzales tallied five kills and two blocks, and Koko Haboian and Justin Demonteverde each recorded 12 assists. Nick Ramirez produced six kills while Tad Whiting made five blocks.
Glendale previously lost a league match to visiting Crescenta Valley, 25-15, 26-24, 25-18. Herrera tallied three kills while Vraj Bhagat had two kills.
The Nitros (13-2 overall) will visit Crescenta Valley for a league match on Wednesday, April 5, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Burroughs High in Burbank on April 7.
