Falcons, Nitros, Tornados Suffer League Setbacks

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity softball team returned to action after a 10-day hiatus and lost at Burroughs High in Burbank, 6-4, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Sophomore Mila Reddy went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, junior Jaiden Sabelis went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a run and a walk, and sophomore Alexa Johnson went 2-for-3 with a run. Senior Sophia Kupperstein finished with a double and a run while junior Haley Krohn walked once. Junior Perri Derian recorded four strikeouts over 3.1 innings while sophomore Carley Mulcahey allowed two hits over 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.
The Falcons (10-7 overall, 2-1 in league) will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league matchup on Tuesday, April 11, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Arcadia on April 13.

Glendale High School junior Jazmin Combs went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI during a Village Christian Spring Fling Showcase game last weekend.

The Nitros lost a Pacific League game at Burbank, 10-0, on Tuesday.
Glendale competed in the Village Christian Spring Fling Showcase last Saturday and finished with a 15-4 loss against Arleta as junior Jazmin Combs went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Junior Chloe Dobie recorded a hit and a run while sophomore Natalie Minkler tallied a hit and an RBI. Freshman Rachel Francis produced an RBI while senior Carla Luna, senior Maily Navarrete and junior Maria Guerra each scored once.
Glendale opened tournament action with a 17-0 loss against San Fernando. Guerra tallied a hit and a walk, junior Jade Marquez and Dobie each had a base hit, and Francis walked once.
The Nitros were previously shut out in a nonleague game at Maranatha High in Pasadena, 17-0. Senior Sammy Maylad registered a base hit, senior Desiree Guzman and Marquez each walked once and Minkler finished with five strikeouts over four innings in the circle.
Glendale (3-10 overall, 1-3 in league) will host La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena for a nonleague game on Monday, April 3, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Westridge School of Pasadena on April 4.

Hoover High School freshman Sophia Hernandez recorded a base hit during a Pacific League game against Muir High on Tuesday.

The Tornados lost to visiting Muir High of Pasadena, 15-0, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Sophomore Evelyn Ortiz finished with six strikeouts, freshman Sophia Hernandez recorded a base hit, and junior Natalie Tolbert reached on a hit-by-pitch.
Hoover (1-5 overall, 0-3 in league) will host Burbank for a league game on Tuesday, April 11, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Glendale on April 13.
