Glendale Edges Hoover; CVHS Loses to Arcadia

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ tennis team lost to visiting Arcadia, 17-1, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday as the No. 1 doubles team of Ryan Lee and Daniel Lee won the lone set for the Falcons, 6-3.
CVHS recently lost a nonleague match at Flintridge Prep, 12-6. The Falcons’ No. 1 team of Ryan Lee and Daniel Lee (6-1, 6-0) and the No. 3 tandem of Joshua Kook and Hochan Lee (7-5, 7-5) each won a pair of sets while No. 1 singles Aiden Kim (6-2) and No. 2 Jihyoung Park (6-3) each won a set.
CVHS previously defeated visiting Hoover, 11-7, in a league matchup. The No. 2 team of Joshua Kook and Hochan Lee (6-2, 6-1, 6-0), and the No. 3 tandem of Joseph Choi and Caleb Kook (6-3, 6-1, 6-0) each swept. No. 1 Ryan Lee (6-2), No. 2 Dylan Kim (6-4) and No. 3 Ethan Kim (6-4) each won a set. The No. 1 duo of Matthew Park won a set, 6-2, before alternating with Easan Hamkins and Zachariah Loppnow, who won their lone set 6-0.
Crescenta Valley will visit Glendale for a league match on Tuesday, March 28, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros edged host Hoover High, 72-64, in total games after ending the Pacific League match in a 9-9 draw on Tuesday.
Glendale’s No. 2 singles Lazar Ratkovic swept, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0. No. 3 Sako Vardanyan (6-3, 6-2), the No. 1 doubles team of Leo Petrosyan and Sergey Hryhorian (7-5, 6-3), and the No. 2 tandem of Amari Richardson and Tigran Margaryan (6-0, 6-4) each won a pair of sets.
Glendale previously lost a nonleague match against visiting Marshall High of Pasadena, 16-2. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Nitros will visit Eagle Rock for a nonleague match on Tuesday, March 21, at 2:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados were edged by visiting Glendale, 72-64, in total games after ending the Pacific League match in a 9-9 draw on Tuesday.
The No. 2 doubles team of Christopher Kim and Vincent Abechian swept, 7-5, 6-4, 6-2, while No. 1 singles Alec Avedisian won a pair of sets, 6-3, 6-2. No. 2 Albert Poghosyan (6-2), No. 3 Daniel Shakaryan (6-1), the No. 1 duo of Erik Ghokasian Khoygani (7-5), and the No. 3 tandem of Noah Kurien and Edgar Balasian (6-3) each won a set.
Hoover previously lost a league matchup at Crescenta Valley, 11-7. No. 1 Avedisian swept, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3, No. 3 Shakaryan won a pair of sets, 6-3, 7-5, and No. 2 Poghosyan (6-3) and the No. 1 team of Benjamin Lim and Abechian (6-4) each won a set.
The Tornados will host Pasadena for a league match on Thursday, March 23, at 3:30 p.m.
