Falcons, Nitros, Tornados Finish Regular Seasons

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated visiting Arcadia, 77-47, in its Pacific League and regular-season finale last Thursday.
Junior Kylie Ray poured in 19 points, senior Victoria Prochazka registered 17 points and junior Lulu Arzoumanian finished with 14 points. Senior Melissa Dayag tallied 10 points while senior Taleen Krikorian scored six points. Sophomore Darby Stayton recorded four points, senior Aleek Zakarian posted three points, and senior Kristen Olavi and junior Tara Arouchian each had two points.
The league champion Falcons (13-1 in league, 23-5 overall) recently hosted Pacific Christian/Orange County High of Newport Beach (17-10 overall) in their CIF-Southern Section Division 2AA opener; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’s deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, CVHS would meet either Santa Monica (18-10 overall) or Pacifica High of Oxnard (18-8 overall) in a second-round matchup today. A pair of victories would send Crescenta Valley to the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

The Nitros routed host Hoover High, 63-12, in their Pacific League finale last Thursday to secure fourth place in the standings.
Junior Sella Koshkerian poured in 15 points, sophomore Christina Koshkerian registered 13 points and junior captain Carmen Avedian finished with 10 points. Sophomores Natalia Andriassian and Pateel Krikorian each tallied six points while senior captain Jane Bassil scored five points. Junior Michelle Mirzakhanian recorded four points while junior Kalin Zadoori and sophomore Aleek Khanamerian each had two points.
Glendale (8-6 in league, 18-8 overall) recently visited Foothill Tech of Ventura (14-6 overall) for its CIF-Southern Section Division 4AA opener; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, the Nitros would meet either Whittier (13-10 overall) or Jordan High of Long Beach (16-11 overall) in a second-round matchup today. A pair of victories would send Glendale to the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

HOOVER

The Tornados lost against visiting Glendale, 63-12, in their season finale last Thursday.
Freshman Lara Hanneyan scored four points, freshman Michelle Cline recorded three points, junior Jayda Russ-Wheeler and sophomore Yadhira Sanchez Lopez each tallied two points, and junior Natalie Velasquez had one point.
Hoover finished the campaign eighth in the league standings with an 0-14 record (0-20 overall).
