Glendale Blanks Muir; CVHS Ties Burroughs

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ soccer team routed host Muir High in Pasadena, 5-0, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Senior Michelle Navarro registered two goals and one assist while senior Ysabella Sanchez tallied one goal and two assists. Junior Alyssa Araya finished with one goal and one assist, sophomore Yeraz Kassabian scored once and junior Amelia Knur made two saves. Senior Brianna Diaz had one assist while junior Mia Alcibar collected one shot on goal.
The Nitros previously tied a league game at Pasadena, 1-1. Senior Johanna Lucio scored one goal while Knur racked up seven saves. Navarro produced three shots on goal, Sanchez recorded a pair of shots on target, and Araya and Alcibar each had one shot on goal.
Fifth-place Glendale hosted second-place Crescenta Valley yesterday; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Nitros (6-9-1 overall, 4-6-1 in league) will visit Burbank for a league matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 31, before hosting rival Hoover High in their regular-season finale on Thursday,
Feb. 2.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School junior Cameron Ouye and the Falcons will host Muir High for a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 3:30 p.m.

The Falcons finished a Pacific League game at Burroughs High in Burbank with a 2-2 draw on Tuesday.
Junior Olivia Clark scored a tying goal at the start of the second half before senior Giovana Aldaz’s free kick gave CVHS a 2-1 advantage. The Bears ultimately tied the game later in the second half.
Crescenta Valley previously blanked host Hoover High in a league match, 4-0. Junior Adamari Polanco, freshman Kira Lee, Aldaz and Clark each tallied one goal while senior Stephanie Schaupp and junior Kaylee Yoxsimer were each credited with one assist.
The second-place Falcons traveled to fifth-place Glendale yesterday; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. CVHS (11-5-2 overall, 9-0-2 in league) will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 31, before visiting Arcadia for its regular-season finale on Thursday, Feb. 2.

HOOVER

Hoover High School senior Felicity Calvillo and the Tornados will visit Pasadena for a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 3:30 p.m.

The Tornados lost a Pacific League game at Arcadia, 7-2, on Tuesday. Hoover previously ended a nonleague game in a scoreless tie against visiting Grant High of Van Nuys last Saturday after falling to visiting Crescenta Valley High, 4-0, in a league matchup the day before. Individual statistics were not reported by the Hoover coaching staff.
The sixth-place Tornados hosted seventh-place Burbank yesterday; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Hoover (7-8-4 overall, 2-7-2 in league) will visit Pasadena for a league matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 31, before visiting rival Glendale for its regular-season finale on Thursday, Feb. 2.
