Local Water Polo Squads Compete in League Games

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ water polo team beat host Pasadena, 10-5, to remain undefeated in Pacific League action on Tuesday as junior Miranda Graham racked up 11 saves.
Sophomore Ani Thomasian registered three goals and one steal, sophomore Michelle Khachatryan scored three goals, and senior Izzy Nolte tallied two goals. Senior Sydney Lansang finished with one goal and two steals while senior Mayda Hartounian recorded one goal. Senior Ann Donohoe collected four steals, junior Gianna Double posted three steals and junior Avalon Burzynski had one steal.
The Falcons previously picked up a 10-3 league win over visiting Glendale. Khachatryan racked up five goals while Miranda Graham registered 12 saves and three steals. Lansang and Thomasian each scored a pair of goals while Burzynski had one goal. Donohoe produced a pair of steals while Hartounian tallied one steal.
CVHS (5-7 overall, 3-0 in league) will resume league play with a home matchup against Burbank on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 3:30 p.m. following the conclusion of the Oxnard Invitational today.

HOOVER

Hoover High School’s Malia Bautista had one assist during a Pacific League game against Arcadia this week.

The Tornados lost to visiting Arcadia, 18-8, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Ellysee Baker registered two goals, two steals and one assist, Adriana Harutyunyan tallied two goals and one assist, and goalie Catalina Martin finished with nine saves, two steals and one assist. Juliana Aviles produced one goal and one steal, Lucie Gharibyan collected three steals, and Karly Rios and Malia Bautista each had one assist.
Hoover previously dropped a league game against visiting Burroughs High of Burbank, 17-6. Gomez recorded four goals while Harutyunyan scored a pair of goals.
The Tornados (4-9 overall, 1-2 in league) will host Pasadena in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Crescenta Valley High on Thursday, Jan. 19.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School sophomore Emily Gevorkyan registered six saves during a Pacific League game Burroughs High on Tuesday.

The Nitros lost at Burroughs High in Burbank, 18-6, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Sophomore Emily Gevorkyan registered six saves, sophomore Inessa Khajehgian led the team with three goals, and sophomores Jasper Starr and Ani Ttuyan added two and one goals, respectively.
Glendale previously lost a league game at Crescenta Valley High, 10-3. Sophomore Leah Gaddes scored a pair of goals while Ttuyan had one goal.
The Nitros (8-12 overall, 1-2 in league) will host Arcadia in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Muir High in Pasadena on Thursday, Jan. 19.
