Glendale, CVHS Compete in Tournaments

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team picked up a 49-38 victory over Camarillo in a Glendora Tournament game on Wednesday.
Junior Kylie Ray scored a team-high 20 points while junior Lulu Arzoumanian poured in 12 points. Senior Melissa Dayag scored nine points, seniors Taleen Krikorian and Victoria Prochazka each tallied three points, and senior Kristen Olavi and sophomore Darby Stayton each had one point.
The Falcons lost to Granada Hills Charter, 60-48, in their tournament opener on Monday. Prochazka poured in 17 points with one block while Ray racked up 10 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Stayton finished with six points, six boards, two steals, one block and one assist, senior Aleek Zakarian scored six points, and Arzoumanian recorded three points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists. Krikorian and Dayag each tallied two points, two assists and one board, junior Tara Arouchian registered two points, one steal and one rebound, and Olavi had one board.
CVHS previously defeated host Glendale in a Pacific League game, 64-32, as Prochazka poured in 13 points with four rebounds, two steals and one block. Ray registered eight points, eight boards, four assists, three steals and one block, Arzoumanian tallied eight points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists, and Krikorian recorded seven points, two boards, one steal and one assist. Stayton finished with six points, eight rebounds, two blocks and two assists, Olavi posted six points, three boards and one steal, and Arouchian scored four points with one rebound. Junior Natalie Shabazian produced three points, two boards, one steal and one assist, senior Charlotte Foster notched three points and two rebounds, and sophomore Keira Calaguas had two points, two steals and two boards. Dayag scored two points with three rebounds and one assist while Zakarian had two points, three assists, one steal and one board.

Hoover High School sophomore Yadhira Sanchez Lopez and the Tornados will resume Pacific League action by hosting Arcadia on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m.

Following the conclusion of the Glendora Tournament this week, the Falcons (12-3 overall, 4-0 in league) will resume league action by hosting Burroughs High of Burbank on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados lost to visiting Burbank, 73-6, in a Pacific League game last Thursday.
Natalie Velasquez, Lara Hanneyan and Emily Aghazarian each scored two points.
Hoover (0-9 overall, 0-4 in league) will resume league action by hosting Arcadia on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School junior Pateel Koshkerian and the Nitros will resume league play by hosting Muir High of Pasadena on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m.

The Nitros lost to San Fernando, 61-50, in a Burroughs High Tournament game on Tuesday in Burbank. Glendale opened the tournament with a 71-35 victory over Santa Paula on Monday.
The Nitros previously lost a Pacific League game against Crescenta Valley High, 64-32. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale (9-4 overall, 2-2 in league) will resume league play by hosting Muir High of Pasadena on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m.
