CVHS Blanks Hoover; Nitros Fall to Pasadena

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team finished competing in the Best in the West Tournament last Saturday.
The Falcons edged Apple Valley, 1-0, as Cameron Ouye scored the deciding goal on an assist by Giovana Aldaz. CVHS suffered a 4-0 loss to Marina High of Huntington Beach later that day.
The Falcons previously routed visiting Hoover in a Pacific League game, 6-0. Aldaz registered one goal and a pair of assists while Adamari Polanco finished with one goal and one assist. Kira Lee, Angelina Grigoryan, Stephanie Schaupp and Misganech Teahan each scored one goal while Allison Park, Calliope Araz and Adamari Polanco were each credited with an assist.
Crescenta Valley (4-5-1 overall, 2-0-1 in league) will continue league action by hosting Burroughs High of Burbank on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 3:15 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros suffered their fourth straight loss after dropping a nonleague game at Schurr High in Montebello, 3-1, on Monday. Glendale previously lost a Pacific League game against visiting Pasadena, 2-0. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Nitros (2-6 overall, 0-3 in league) will continue league play by hosting Muir High of Pasadena on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 3:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados were shut out at Crescenta Valley, 6-0, in a Pacific League game last Friday. Hoover (4-3 overall, 1-2 in league) will continue league action by hosting Arcadia on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 3:30 p.m.
