Falcons, Nitros, Tornados All Collect Victories

The Crescenta Valley High School boys’ soccer team remained undefeated after blanking host Burroughs High in Burbank, 4-0, in the semifinals of the 29th Ralph Brandt Tournament on Wednesday.
Senior Miros Abedian scored a pair of two goals while senior Dylan Sahakians finished with one goal and one assist. Senior Luis Gong scored once while senior Ryo Maeda and junior Kevin Vartanians were each credited with an assist.
The Falcons routed Camino Nuevo Dalzell Lance Campus of Los Angeles, 5-0, in a tournament game last Saturday, as senior Luis Gong recorded two goals and one assist. Senior Adam Lorek, senior Yorck Einhaus and junior Grant Hovhannisyan each scored one goal, while senior Chris Atachian, junior Dylan Thomas and junior Reiter Morrissey each had one assist.
Crescenta Valley edged Sylmar, 2-1, in a tournament game earlier on Saturday. Senior Owen Denisiu and Lorek each scored once, while Gong was credited with an assist.
The Falcons previously opened tournament action by crushing Verbum Dei High of Los Angeles, 7-0, as Gong recorded a hat trick. Sahakians and Denisiu each registered one goal and one assist, seniors Lukas Elze and Edwin Vartanian each scored once, and Lorek, Abedian and Atachian each had one assist.
Crescenta Valley will battle La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena in the championship game at Burroughs High School in Burbank on Saturday at 5 p.m. Following the end of the tournament, CVHS (5-0 overall) will continue Pacific League action by hosting Pasadena on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros routed visiting Windward High of Los Angeles, 5-2, in a nonleague game on Tuesday, as juniors Edgar Naghdalyan and Hani Ahmadie each recorded two goals and one assist. Senior Andrey Simonyan scored once and senior Alexander Petrossians and junior Eddy Dagbashyan each had one assist.
Glendale previously blanked visiting Pasadena Poly in a nonleague game, 2-0. Naghdalyan and Simonyan each produced one goal, junior Xavier Lu and Ahmadie were each credited with an assist, and Emil Sarkisians posted his second consecutive shutout win.
The Nitros opened Pacific League action at Burroughs High in Burbank yesterday; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Glendale (3-0 overall) will host Arcadia in a league game on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados blanked visiting Muir High of Pasadena, 1-0, in their Pacific League opener on Wednesday. Hoover previously tied visiting Notre Dame High of Sherman Oaks, 0-0, in a nonleague game. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Tornados (2-1-1 overall, 1-0 in league) will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a league matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 3:30 p.m.
