CVHS, Hoover, Glendale Kick Off League Action

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team collected their first win of the season after routing host Marshall High in Los Angeles, 4-1, on Monday.
Marshall drew first blood but a pair of goals by senior Allison Park in the first half put the Falcons back up for good. Senior Giovana Aldaz, who was credited with an asset on Park’s game-tying goal, expanded the narrow advantage by adding a pair of goals in the second half. Senior Angelina Grigoryan and sophomore Leah Farhadian each tallied an assist while junior Ella De Kruyf guarded the cage for a full 80 minutes.
CVHS (1-2 overall) opened Pacific League action at Burbank yesterday; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Falcons will continue league play at Pasadena on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados suffered their first loss of the campaign after being shut out by visiting Simi Valley, 2-0, in a nonleague game last Friday.
Hoover (3-1 overall) opened Pacific League action at Muir High in Pasadena yesterday; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Tornados will host Burroughs High of Burbank in a league matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros posted their second consecutive shutout victory by defeating host Wilson High in Los Angeles, 3-0, in a nonleague game on Tuesday.
Glendale snapped a two-game losing streak after routing host Magnolia Science Academy in Reseda, 11-0, in a nonleague game on Monday. The Nitros previously lost a nonleague game against visiting Westridge School of Pasadena, 3-1. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale (2-2 overall) opened Pacific League action by hosting Burroughs High of Burbank yesterday; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Nitros will visit Arcadia for a league matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 3:30 p.m.
