Falcons, Nitros Win Nonleague Games

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated King/Drew High of Los Angeles, 55-49, in its Muir Tip-Off Shootout opener in Pasadena on Monday.
Senior Victoria Prochazka amassed 16 points, two rebounds, two blocks and one steal, while sophomore Keira Calaguas racked up nine points, four rebounds and two steals. Junior Lulu Arzoumanian registered nine points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal, junior Kylie Ray recorded four points, eight rebounds, seven assists and one steal, and senior Melissa Dayag tallied four points, seven rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal. Senior Taleen Krikorian produced four points, two rebounds and one assist, while sophomore Darby Stayton finished with four points, six rebounds and two blocks. Senior Aleek Zakarian posted two points and one rebound, while senior Kristen Olavi had two points and one assist.
The Falcons previously opened the regular season by defeating Clovis North High of Fresno, 77-48, in a nonleague game. Prochazka racked up 15 points, while Calaguas poured in 11 points. Ray, Arzoumanian and Stayton each scored seven points, Krikorian registered four points, and Dayag, Zakarian and Olavi each had two points.
CVHS (2-0 overall) will battle Chatsworth in a tournament game on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros defeated host Quartz Hill, 49-45, in a nonleague game last Thursday, as senior Jane Bassil posted a double-double with 11 points, 14 rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Junior Sella Koshkerian poured in a team-high 17 points with nine rebounds, four steals, four assists and one block, sophomore Pateel Krikorian registered six points and two steals, and sophomore Natalia Andriassian finished with four points and eight boards.
Glendale (2-0 overall) will battle Schurr High of Montebello in a nonleague game on Monday, Nov. 28, at 5:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados lost to Maranatha High of Pasadena, 72-9, in their Muir Leave a Legacy Tip-Off Shootout opener in Pasadena on Monday. Hoover previously lost a nonleague game at Marshall High in Pasadena, 56-38. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover (0-3 overall) will visit South Hills High in West Covina for a nonleague game on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 5:15 p.m.
