Nitros Rout Pasadena, Falcons Beat Hoover

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ tennis team won a Pacific League match over visiting Pasadena, 16-2, on Wednesday, as all three doubles teams dominated on the court.
The No. 2 team of Lilit Arakelyan and Tifany Tarbinian (6-2, 6-2, 6-0), and the No. 3 duo of Nairy Manoukian and Liana Aghakhani (6-4, 6-1, 6-0) each swept. The No. 1 tandem of Sarah Davtyan and Natalie Mirzakhanyan won a pair of sets, 6-2, 6-1, before rotating with Marie Kaloghlian and Garine Melkonian, who won their lone set, 6-2.
No. 1 singles player Lori Torosyan won a pair of sets, 6-2, 6-0, before rotating with Yeva Sirakanyan, who added a 6-3 win. No. 2 singles Lizzie Davtyan won a set, 6-1, before alternating with Francine Ghazarian, who won a set, 7-6. No. 3 singles Gohar Harutyunyan won a pair of sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The Nitros were previously shut out at Arcadia, 18-0, in a league match.
Glendale will compete in the league prelims on Monday, Oct. 24, and finals on Wednesday, Oct. 26, before the CIF-SS brackets are released on Monday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School’s Claudia Chmielewski swept her sets to help the Falcons rout Hoover in a league match.

The Falcons defeated host Hoover, 17-1, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday.
The No. 2 doubles team of Hailee Yoon and Ramya Kumarasuriar (6-2, 6-0, 6-0), and the No. 3 duo of Lexi Sheynin and Gabriella Rouveyrol (6-2, 7-5, 6-0) each swept. The No. 1 tandem of Liudmila Abadzheva and Elena Manuelian picked up a pair of wins, 6-3, 7-5. Manuelian rotated with Ariah Armen, and the new pair won the final set, 6-0.
No. 3 singles player Claudia Chmielewski swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, while No. 1 singles Nicolette Aghabegian won two sets, 6-0, 6-1. No. 2 singles Natalie Mirbegian won two sets, 6-3, 7-5, before alternating with Kristen Kim, who won her lone set, 6-3.
Crescenta Valley previously won a league match at Burbank, 13-5. Chmielewski (6-3, 6-2, 6-0), and the No. 1 team of Amanda An and Kim (6-2, 6-0, 6-4) each swept. The No. 2 duo of Abadzheva and Manuelian (6-4, 6-0), the No. 3 tandem of Sheynin and Rouveyrol (6-2, 6-4), and No. 2 singles Mirbegian (6-1, 6-0) each won a pair of sets, while No. 1 singles Aghabegian added a 6-0 win.
CVHS will compete in the league prelims on Monday, Oct. 24, and finals on Wednesday, Oct. 26, before the CIF-SS brackets are released on Monday, Oct. 31.

HOOVER

Hoover High School’s No. 1 singles player Agape Keshishian tallied the lone set win in a league match against Crescenta Valley.

The Tornados lost a Pacific League match against visiting Crescenta Valley, 17-1, last Tuesday, as No. 1 singles Agape Keshishian won the team’s lone set, 6-3.
Hoover previously won a league match at Pasadena; however, a final result was not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover will compete in the league prelims on Monday, Oct. 24, and finals on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
