Nitros, Falcons Each Win Pair of League Games

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ water polo team picked up its fourth win in its last five games after edging host Hoover, 12-11, in a Pacific League matchup on Wednesday.
Senior Arthur Ter-Matevosyan posted a team-high four goals, while sophomore Robert Lazaryan recorded three goals. Senior Andrew Azizian scored a pair of goals, while senior Gregory Carrillo, junior Andrew Klujian and sophomore August Kalaba each tallied one goal.
The Nitros previously defeated visiting Pasadena, 20-13, in a league game. Carrillo racked up five goals, Ter-Matevosyan collected four goals, and Azizian finished with three goals. Juniors Artin Ghazaryan, David Zakaryan and Arno Ghazaryan each recorded two goals, while Klujian and Kalaba each had one goal.
Glendale (12-7 overall, 5-2 in league) will compete in the league prelims on Tuesday, Oct. 25, with the finals being on Thursday, Oct. 27, before the CIF-SS brackets are released on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School’s Michael Petersen scored one goal to help the Falcons beat visiting Muir High in a league game last week.

The Falcons edged host Arcadia, 8-7, in a Pacific League game on Wednesday, as Sebastian Rivera led with three goals. Levon Babayan and Alex Movsesyan each scored twice, while Jacob Choe had one goal.
CVHS previously routed visiting Muir High of Pasadena, 19-5, in a league game. Babayan tallied a game-high six goals, while Eugene Lee racked up five goals. Movsesyan, Devin Janparian and Andre Akopian each added a pair of goals, while Rivera and Michael Petersen each scored once.
Crescenta Valley (12-12 overall, 5-2 in league) will compete in the league prelims on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and finals on Thursday, Oct. 27, before the CIF-SS brackets are released on Saturday, Oct. 29.

HOOVER

The Tornados recently lost a pair of league matchups against visiting Glendale, 12-11, and Burbank, 16-6. No individual statistics were reported by the Hoover coaching staff.
Hoover (6-13 overall, 2-5 in league) will compete in the league prelims on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and finals on Thursday, Oct. 27, before the CIF-SS brackets are released on Saturday, Oct. 29.
