Local Tennis Squads Resume Pacific League Action

The Hoover High School varsity girls’ tennis team defeated host Burroughs High of Burbank, 13-5, in a Pacific League match Monday.
The doubles team provided seven of the 13 total victories led by the No. 1 team of Julia Jagaspanyan and Ani Weimar, who swept their sets 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. The No. 2 tandem of Malvina Karapetyan and Kathryn Yen (6-4, 6-3) and the No. 3 duo of Kirsten Cannon and Savannah Studebaker Sanchez (6-2, 6-3) each tallied a pair of set victories.
Every singles player picked up a pair of set victories, as No. 1 Agape Keshishian won 6-3, 6-3, No. 2 Jacklyn Tolmoyan won 6-0, 6-2, and No. 3 Camille La Torre won 6-3, 7-6.
Hoover is scheduled to host Pasadena in a league matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 3:30 p.m.

CVHS

The Falcons swept Pasadena, 18-0, in their Pacific League matchup Tuesday. It was a near-perfect effort as CVHS ultimately only lost three total games.
All three singles players, No. 1 Nicolette Aghabegian, No. 2 Natalie Mirbegian and No. 3 Claudia Chmielewski, each swept their opponents by scores of 6-0.
Meanwhile in doubles action, the No. 1 team of Amanda An and Kristen Kim and the No. 2 duo of Elena Manuelian and Liudmila Abadzheva each swept by scores of 6-0. The No. 3 tandem of Ramya Kumarasuriar and Hailee Yoon picked up a pair of victories, 6-2, 6-1, before being substituted for Lexi Sheynin and Gabriella Rouveyrol, who also won 6-0.
Crescenta Valley will visit Burbank for a league match on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros were edged by host Burroughs High of Burbank, 10-8, in a Pacific League matchup Tuesday.
The doubles teams shined, registering seven of the eight total wins behind a pair of sweeps. The No. 1 tandem of seniors Sarah Davtyan and Nairy Manoukian (7-6, 6-3, 6-1) and the No. 2 duo of juniors Lilit Arakelyan and Tiffany Tarbinian (6-3, 6-2, 6-1) each swept, while the No. 3 team of senior Liana Aghakhani and junior Pauline Tekelian won one set 6-3. Meanwhile, No. 1 singles player freshman Lori Torosyan picked up one set victory 6-2
Glendale is scheduled to host Arcadia in a league match on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 3:30 p.m.
