A 37-year-old transient man was arrested on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale, possession of unlawful paraphernalia and identity theft after an officer reported observing him place an open bottle of liquor on the ground at around 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, near Brand Boulevard and Colorado Street. Officers reported finding a methamphetamine pipe, 16 balloons filled with heroin and a credit card belonging to someone else in the man’s possession. He was also booked on an outstanding felony warrant.

Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station

A resident in the 5000 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta reported that an unidentified man was prowling in his front yard and attempting to break in at 11:33 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2. The man, described as being in his late 20s and wearing a white shirt with dark shorts, left after the resident brandished a firearm and told him to leave.

A passport, stacks of Japanese, Korean, American and European Union currency, jewelry and a handgun were reported stolen from a home in the 5400 block of Pineridge Drive in La Crescenta that was burglarized after an intruder shattered a sliding glass door sometime from 12:10-4:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31. The handgun was located in the master bedroom, while the other items were taken from a locked safe that was damaged.

An unidentified man was seen stealing a catalytic converter from a Ford Econoline van parked at U-Haul in the 4400 block of Cloud Avenue in La Crescenta at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31. The thief was described as a Hispanic man with tattoos on both arms, standing 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds and wearing a gray T-shirt, dark shorts, dark baseball cap and black face mask. He was seen leaving in a gray Toyota Tacoma pickup truck being driven by another person.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a Toyota Prius parked in the 4800 block of Del Monte Road in La Crescenta at 3:42 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31.
