A motorist died Friday afternoon when their vehicle went off a freeway overpass and landed in the parking lot of the United Artists Movie Theatre on Verdugo Boulevard in Glendale.
The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m., according to Jonathan Boyd, public information officer with the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle, an unspecified BMW, was traveling on the transition from the eastbound 210 Freeway to the 2 Freeway, Boyd said. Only the driver was in the vehicle, he added.
The car struck another vehicle when it landed in the parking lot. That vehicle, which was parked, sustained moderate damage and its occupant suffered minor injuries, Boyd said. The fire department arrived on the scene, but Boyd could not confirm whether the BMW caught fire.
