Kiwanis Makes a Splash With Duck Race

First published in the May 7 print issue of the Glendale News Press.

Flocks of Glendale Kiwanians recently gathered at Verdugo Park for their 17th Duck Race event, where they constructed a lake to accommodate 22,000 adopted rubber ducks for six heats of racing.
The ducks were propelled to the finish line with the help of the Glendale Fire Department. Hundreds of adults and children lined the lake knowing that the adopter of the first-place racer would win a $10,000 prize.
Duck banners promoting the event were sold and flew throughout Glendale during April. The event raised more than $100,000 for the Glendale Kiwanis Foundation.
Event Gold Sponsors were Adventist Health Glendale, Forest Lawn and Pacific BMW. Silver Sponsors were C & M Printing and Mike and Kathryn Guyer.
Kiwanis Club of Glendale has been a driving force in improving the quality of life in the community, especially for children, for 100 years. For more information, visit glendalekiwanis.info.
