Guitarist Bokyung Byun will perform in the second concert of the 2022 Brand Associates Music Series on Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m.
The program’s title is “Music from America” and includes new pieces from young U.S. composers and South American composers. The program will consist of music by Celil Refik Kaya, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Jack Frerer, Nicky Sohn, Theo Chandler, Tiffany Cuaresma, Agustin Barrios, Manuel Ponce and Leo Brouwer.
Byun won the 2021 Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition — the first female guitarist to win the award in 20 years. As part of her winnings, a new CD on Naxos will be issued this spring, and she will go on a 50-city tour in the fall. For more information, visit bokyungbyun.com.
The Brand Associates 2022 Music Series will feature six Brand Library Recital Hall concerts on Saturday afternoons at 2 p.m. The series presents top chamber music groups from Southern California and beyond. The Brand Associates sponsor the music series. The event will adhere to current L.A. County Department of Health Guidelines, which may include wearing a mask when inside the building.
