Daly, Kilgore Help Lead Falcons to Victories

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team opened the season with a two-game win streak while outscoring its opponents 33-3 in those contests.

Recently, the Falcons crushed visiting La Verne Damien, 19-2, last Thursday.

Senior captain Mason Daly led all scorers with five goals and added five ground balls, while sophomore attacker Alex Lineses posted a hat trick with two assists. Senior attackers Henry Kaufman and Ezra Suh each scored three goals, and senior attacker Nathan Kilgore scored twice with one assist. Senior defender Easton Caneva, who had four ground balls, and junior midfielder Ethan Sheklow each tallied one goal and one assist, while senior midfielder Ryan Chi scored once. Junior midfielder Parker Trillo and senior defender had seven and four ground balls, respectively, while senior goalie Hayden Lunt notched eight saves.

Crescenta Valley dominated its home opener by routing visiting Newhall Hart, 14-1, as Kilgore led all scorers with five goals and three assists. Kaufman posted three goals and two assists, while Caneva tallied two goals and two assists. Daly, Lineses and Suh each finished with one goal and one assist, while junior midfielder Damian Valdez and Chi had one goal and two assists, respectively. Meanwhile, Lunt was solid in the cage with 14 saves.

The Falcons (2-0 overall record) are scheduled to open Gold Coast League action at Calabasas on Wednesday, March 2, at 7 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros opened the season on a three-game slide after recently losing at Peninsula of Rolling Hills Estates, 21-5, Tuesday.

The previous week, Glendale lost to visiting Valencia West Ranch, 21-4. No individual statistics were reported to the News-Press.

The Nitros (0-3 overall) are scheduled to host Lynwood in a nonleague game on Monday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m.
