Helen Elizabeth Jacobs

Helen Elizabeth Jacobs was born on March 25, 1922, in the town of Canton, Ohio. She was the daughter of William C. Jacobs and Delia M. Jacobs. Helen moved permanently to California in 1958 and worked for Industria Americana, National Car Rentals, Talcott Factors, United Factors and Crocker Bank as a collections supervisor. She retired in 1987 from Manufacturers Hanover Bank.

She was a member of Eastern Star in Canton, Ohio. Helen was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Friends of the Glendale Library and the Glassell Park Improvement Association. She was a member of the Glassell Park Seniors Club with many neighbors. There, she met many friends and served as the club’s vice president.

Helen worked as a volunteer with Glendale Memorial Hospital for more than 40 years. She served in the Alpha Unit, but mainly in the gift shop as a candy buyer. She also served on the Guild Board of Directors as well as editor of the Tattler.

She was a member of Wilshire Methodist Church and was active with its Plymethians organization. She was a cat lover and shared many good memories of her cat Poopsie. Helen lived the last five years of her life at Solheim Senior Community in Eagle Rock, where she reached one hundred years of age on March 25, 2022. She passed away peacefully on April 6, 2022. Helen will be remembered as a good friend and neighbor to all.

A funeral will be held at Forest Lawn Glendale (323-794-0015) on May 2 at 2 p.m. at Wee Kirk O’ The Heather Chapel. There will also be a visitation on May 1 from 10 to 2 p.m.
