The Glendale City Council passed a proclamation recognizing Juneteenth Independence Day, noting the holiday as “a powerful symbol of freedom and the long struggle for civil rights” and “a time to reflect on the progress made in the fight for civil rights and to recognize the resilience, endurance and contributions of Black Americans throughout history,” the proclamation stated.
