Local Star Athletes Earn League Honors

The Pacific League recently released its all-league teams for baseball, softball, girls’ lacrosse, boys’ lacrosse, boys’ volleyball and boys’ golf following the completion of the 2023 spring season.
Crescenta Valley, Glendale and Hoover high school athletes were recognized for their season-long accomplishments, hard work and outstanding contributions to their teams.

BASEBALL

Crescenta Valley’s Connor Campbell, Dashiell Schultz and Nico Terenzi earned all-league first-team honors, Jacob Deno, Ryan Ivanyi and Chris Torres were second-team selections, and Tyler Garland received an honorable mention. Phil Torres was named coach of the year after guiding the Falcons to a second-place finish in league with a 12-2 record.
Glendale’s Frankie Malagon received first-team honors, Levi Valadez was a second-team selection and Erik Chavez earned an honorable mention.
Hoover’s Julian Corral received an honorable mention.

SOFTBALL

Hoover High School’s Evelyn Ortiz received honorable mention in softball.

Crescenta Valley’s Lily Hinkle and Mila Reddy earned all-league first-team honors, Alexa Johnson and Jaiden Sabelis were each second-team selections, and Hayley Krohn received an honorable mention.
Glendale’s Natalie Minkler received first-team honors, Desiree Guzman was a second-team selection and Jazmin Combs earned an honorable mention.
Hoover’s Evelyn Ortiz was an honorable mention.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Crescenta Valley High School’s Kaylani Parker received first-team honors in girls’ lacrosse.

Crescenta Valley’s Brianne Ballard was named the co-player of the year while Camden Ballard, Ashlyn Burton, Sophia Lima and Kaylani Parker received first-team honors. Sophia Kachkeran, Jane Marriott and Shari Park were each second-team selections while Isabella Torres earned an honorable mention. Brent Ballard was named the co-coach of the year after leading the Falcons to a league title with a spotless 4-0 record and later winning the first CIF-Southern Section Division II title in program history.
Glendale’s Victoria Menses and Mihiro Okubo each earned first-team honors, Jet Brown and Mika Brown were each second-team selections and Kelly Galindo received an honorable mention.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Crescenta Valley High School’s Nelson Lunt was selected first-team all-league in boys’ lacrosse.

Crescenta Valley’s Quincy Lunt and Nelson Lunt were each first-team selections while Damien Valdez and Ethan Sheklow each received second-team honors.
Glendale’s Gerardo Contreras earned first-team honors while Luis Rodriquez was a second-team selection.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Crescenta Valley High School’s Dylan Hsu was selected first-team all-league in boys’ volleyball.

Crescenta Valley’s William Allen and Jason Nelson were named the co-players of the year. Logan Freemon, Dylan Hsu and Drew Puttler were each first-team selections while William Chin received an honorable mention. John Nelson was named the coach of the year after leading the
Falcons to their first league title since 2004 with a perfect 10-0 record.
Glendale’s Ergueen Herrera earned first-team honors, Quan Tran was a second-team selection and Thaddeus Whiting received an honorable mention.

BOYS’ GOLF

Crescenta Valley’s Cole Kim was named the Pacific League’s MVP while Matthew Alvo and Matthew Denne each received second-team honors.

Glendale High School’s Thaddeus Whiting received an honorable mention in boys’ volleyball.
