Nitros, Tornados, Falcons Drop League Games

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ basketball was edged by visiting Pasadena, 57-55, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. The visiting Bulldogs drained a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to hand the Falcons their first league loss of the season.
Senior Mikail Grigoryan registered 15 points while sophomore Vaugh Zargarian poured in 10 points for CVHS. Junior Derek Najarian scored nine points, senior Alex Altounian recorded eight points and senior Armen Yetenkian finished with five points. Junior Logan Freemon and sophomore Julius Washington each sank a 3-pointer while senior Sebastian Tahmasian had two points.
CV won its league opener over visiting Burbank, 60-42, last Friday. Altounian registered 10 points, Zargarian, Tahmasian, Washington and Grigoryan each finished with nine points, and Yetenkian scored eight points. Freemon drained a 3-pointer, Najarian tallied two points and senior Eric Badalian had one point.
The Falcons previously defeated Palm Desert, 82-56, in a nonleague game, as Grigoryan amassed 28 points. Yetenkian racked up 19 points while Tahmasian poured in 16 points. Zargarian registered nine points, Washington tallied five points, Altounian scored three points and Najarian had two points.
Crescenta Valley (8-3 overall, 1-1 in league) will visit Glendale for a league game on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School senior Dior Pierre averaged 26 points in two games as the Nitros moved to 7-6 overall.

The Nitros defeated visiting Arcadia, 63-58, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday as senior Dior Pierre led the team with 23 points. Sophomore Josh Ballard registered 11 points, senior Tino Zadorian poured in 10 points and senior Denzell Lora recorded nine points. Senior Nico Zadorian finished with five points while senior Riley Lacson and junior Mika Petrosian each scored two points.
Glendale previously lost a high-scoring league game at Burroughs High in Burbank, 93-86, as Pierre amassed 29 points. Tino Zadorian racked up 17 points, Petrosian registered 13 points and Lora poured in 12 points. Ballard scored seven points, Nico Zadorian tallied five points and senior Alex Aghaian had three points.
The Nitros (7-6 overall, 1-1 in league) will host Crescenta Valley in a league game on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m.

HOOVER

Hoover High School’s Hagop Demirjian scored two points as the Tornados lost a Pacific League game at Burroughs High in Burbank.

The Tornados lost a Pacific League game at Burroughs High in Burbank, 79-68, on Tuesday. Justin Herrera amassed 26 points, James Akerman racked up 20 points and Jenghiz Van Patten registered 12 points. Meanwhile, Hagop Demirjian and Aramais Melkonyan each scored two points.
Hoover previously lost its league opener against visiting Muir High of Pasadena, 50-33. Akerman led the team with 15 points while Herrera poured in 12 points. Demirjian sank a 3-pointer, Van Patten tallied two points and Melkonyan had one point.
The Tornados (3-8 overall, 0-2 in league) will host Burbank in a league game on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m.
