Late Rally Lifts Hoover Over North Hollywood, 21-16

The Hoover High School varsity football team reentered the win column after suffering back-to-back losses with a 21-16 victory over visiting North Hollywood last Friday.
The Tornados were seemingly on the path to their third straight loss after facing a 16-7 deficit in the four quarter, but a pair of late touchdowns helped Hoover secure its seventh win this season.
Junior Daniel Baneham scored the deciding touchdown on a 4-yard carry with about two minutes remaining in the quarter. He went 3-for-3 in PAT attempts while adding four tackles and a fumble recovery on defense.
Freshman Aj Francisco completed 9-of-13 passes for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while senior Daniel Rangel and sophomore Davion Holloway each made three catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. Senior Andrew Torres rushed for a game-high 102 yards on 18 carries. Junior Joseph Dizon made a pair of receptions for 44 yards and added three tackles on defense. Senior Cedric Lynum rushed for 32 yards on eight attempts, sophomore Javon Lymon rushed for 20 yards on five carries and made six tackles on defense, and sophomore Joel Jauregui made a 5-yard catch and had six tackles on defense.
Junior Isaac Perez racked up 10 tackles, while juniors Reyes Felix Jr. and Roberto Zegarra each registered five tackles. Senior Frank Higginbotham lll and sophomore Jonathan Manukyan each had three tackles, while senior Benjamin Manukyan and junior Anderson Thombs each made two tackles.
Hoover (7-2 overall) had a bye this week and will conclude the regular season by hosting Glendale in the annual Battle of the Bell game on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.
