CVHS Beats Hoover; Glendale Battles Heat Wave

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ tennis team lost a Pacific League match on Tuesday to visiting Arcadia, 15-3.
No. 2 singles player Natalie Mirbegian (6-1), No. 3 singles player Claudia Chmielewski (6-2), and the No. 3 doubles team of Lexi Sheynin and Gabriella Rouveyrol (7-5) collected the three CV victories.
The Falcons beat visiting Hoover in a league match last Thursday, 17-1. No. 1 Nicolette Aghabegian (6-1, 6-3, 6-0), No. 2 Mirbegian (6-4, 6-1, 6-1) and No. 3 Chmielewski (6-0, 6-2, 6-1) each swept Hoover’s Agape Keshishian, Jacklyn Tolmoyan and Camille La Torre in singles play.

Hoover’s Ani Weimar and doubles partner Julia Jagaspanyan (not pictured) produced the lone win in a league match at CVHS.

The CV No. 2 doubles team of Sheynin and Rouveyrol (6-2, 6-2, 6-1), and the No. 3 tandem of Liudmila Abadzheva and Elena Manuelian (6-4, 6-0, 6-3) each swept their sets. Kristen Kim and Ramya Kumarasuriar, the latter of whom substituted for Amanda An after the first set, tallied a pair of set victories, 6-2, 6-4.
Meanwhile, Hoover’s No. 1 doubles team of Ani Weimar and Julia Jagaspanyan produced the lone win, 6-4.
CVHS will visit Glendale to continue league play on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Tornados will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a league matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros had a pair of matches against Hoover and Eagle Rock canceled due to the heat wave. Glendale will host Crescenta Valley in a Pacific League match on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
