City Launches Online Permit Portal

First published in the Sept. 17 print issue of the Glendale News-Press.

The city this week launched GlendalePermits.org, which is slated to improve the way people apply for and obtain licenses and permits.
This online portal, which makes managing permit and license applications, easier, faster, and more convenient, went live on Tuesday. The new portal will eliminate the need to make multiple trips to City Hall to submit bulky plans and paperwork, or to make payments. With GlendalePermits, users can manage applications from the convenience of a personal computer or mobile device.
“Improving efficiencies at City Hall is one of our top goals and I’m happy to support the launch of GlendalePermits, which will make it easier for our residents and businesses to obtain permits and licenses from the comfort of their homes 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Mayor Ardy Kassakhian in a statement.
In addition to submitting applications and plans, users can make secure payments, check the status of an application, message city staff with questions about applications, share projects with contractors, clients, owners and interested parties, as well as review and print inspection reports and permits, on-demand.
“Our goal is to be a business-friendly city,” said Bradley Calvert, assistant director of community development. “We appreciate residents and businesses that want to invest in our city and be part of our growth. Technology can make a real difference in creating efficient processes and our new online permit portal is part of that change.”
Now that GlendalePermits portal is live, all applications will need to be submitted online.
Glendale’s Permit Services Center staff will be available to answer questions and provide guidance by phone at (818) 548-3200 or in-person during regular counter hours.
