Tornados Remain Unbeaten After 28-10 Victory

The Hoover High School varsity football team collected its third straight victory by defeating host Gabrielino High of San Gabriel, 28-10, in a nonleague game last Friday. The Tornados have gotten off to a fast start, outscoring their three opponents 112-16 while remaining undefeated with a 3-0 overall record in the early portion of the campaign.
Junior quarterback Ethan Davis completed eight passes for 108 yards and a touchdown while adding five carries for 41 yards. Senior Cedric Lynum tallied a team-high 19 carries for 57 yards and a pair of touchdowns and a fumble recovery, while senior Frank Higginbotham lll collected three receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown.
Senior Daniel Rangel had three catches for 37 yards, junior Joseph Dizon made a pair of catches for 25 yards and sophomore Joel Jauregui made one reception for 7 yards. Senior Vaghinak Sakanyan produced one carry for four yards, senior Jesus Barraza was 1-of-2 passing for 3 yards, and junior Daniel Baneham was a perfect 3-for-3 in PAT attempts.
Hoover, which played Duarte yesterday in a game that ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline, will host Temple City in a nonleague game this coming Friday, Sept. 16, at 5 p.m.
