Asian Hall of Fame Event Features Rockers

The Asian Hall of Fame will present its inaugural “Celebrate Asia Festival,” featuring artist ambassadors Robby Krieger, the original guitarist of The Doors, and Danny Seraphine, Chicago’s founding drummer, at the Alex Theatre, 216 N Brand Blvd., Glendale, on Saturday, July 30.
There will be an artist meet-and-greet, champagne dinner and heritage showcase in the courtyard starting at 4 p.m. The concert will start at 7 p.m. for 1,400 attendees with nearby paid parking. Tickets range from $58-$288.
Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Famer Krieger will perform crowd favorites by The Doors. Chicago’s Seraphine will perform with former Chicago lead vocalist Jeff Coffee and their band Chicago Transit Authority. Both have recorded on Asian Hall of Fame’s charity albums with 14-language vocalist Maki Mae, who will perform “My Favorite Things” with Krieger, “Walk On By” with Seraphine and an Asian folk medley from their second Asian Hall of Fame charity album releasing this fall.
U.S. Rep. Judy Chu is expected to honor Asian Hall of Fame founder emeritis Karen Wong. Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor Kathryn Barger will honor philanthropist Lily Liu.
Glendale Mayor Ardy Kassakhian will honor Krieger, whose studio is located in the city. Asian Hall of Fame President and CEO Maki Hsieh will announce the Class of 2022 to be inducted during a black-tie ceremony on Nov. 12, also at the Alex Theatre.
