The Hoover High School varsity boys’ tennis team lost to visiting Glendale, 10-8, in a league match on Tuesday.
Hoover’s No. 1 doubles team of Daniel Shakaryan and Benjamin Lim swept their competition, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1. The No. 2 tandem of Vincent Abechian and Christopher Kim won 6-0, 6-1, and the No. 3 duo of Edgar Balasian and Noah Kurien added one victory, 6-1. Meanwhile, No. 1 singles player Alec Avedisian tallied a pair of wins, 6-3, 6-2.
The Tornados edged visiting Pasadena, 10-8, in a league match on Thursday, April 14. No. 2 singles player Avedisian swept without losing a game, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, while No. 1 singles player Shakaryan and No. 3 singles player Abechian each picked up a pair of victories, 6-0, 6-0. Meanwhile, the No. 1 doubles team of Albert Poghosyan and Lim swept to seal a victory, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4.
The individual league prelims are scheduled to begin on Monday, April 25, at 1 p.m. at Burroughs High in Burbank. The Tornados will learn if they make the postseason when the CIF-SS brackets are released on Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m.
CRESCENTA VALLEY
The Falcons were edged by visiting Burbank, 10-8, in a Pacific League match last Thursday. No statistics were reported to the Glendale News-Press.
