The Glendale Chamber of Commerce handed out five civic awards at its State of the City luncheon last week, honoring the individuals and their organizations for their contributions to the Jewel City. Recipients were Glendale Latino Association President Marisol Chianello, accepting the Organization of the Year award; Ascencia Executive Director Laura Duncan, who was named Woman of the Year; Glendale Community College President David Viar, who was named Man of the Year; Glendale News-Press Publisher Charlie Plowman Jr., who accepted the 100-Year-Member award for the newspaper; and Economy Office Supply President Deborah King, who accepted the Business of the Year award.
