Falcons, Nitros Compete in Rose Bowl Jamboree

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ lacrosse team edged host Mira Costa High of Manhattan Beach, 11-10, in a nonleague game on Wednesday.

Junior midfielder Sophia Kachkeran led with four goals while senior captain Bless Berelc collected three goals. Junior attacker Stephanie Voskanian and freshman attacker Camden Ballard each scored twice. Junior captain Brianne Ballard tallied three assists while junior attacker Shari Park and senior midfielder Ashlyn Burton each finished with one assist.

The Falcons recently finished 1-2 at the Rose Bowl Jamboree last Saturday. CVHS ended tournament play with a 7-3 victory over Vista Murrieta High of Murrieta, as junior captain Haylen Molina posted three goals and one assist. Burton added two goals, and

Brianne Ballard tallied one goal and two assists. Voskanian had one goal and one assist while Park recorded one assist.

In the second tournament game, the Falcons lost to Palos Verdes, 8-4. Molina and Brianne Ballard each collected one goal and one assist, while Camden Ballard and Berelc each scored once.

Crescenta Valley opened tournament play with an 11-4 loss to Santa Margarita High of Rancho Santa Margarita as Molina finished with two goals. Kachkeran registered one goal and one assist, Camden Ballard scored one goal and Park was credited with an assist.

The Falcons (6-4 overall record) are scheduled to compete in the Santa Barbara Shootout on Saturday, March 12, with their opener being against Valencia.

GLENDALE

The Nitros lost a nonleague game at Redondo Union High of Redondo Beach, 16-4, on Tuesday.

Glendale previously competed in the Rose Bowl Jamboree and finished 1-2 in the one-day tournament on Saturday, March 5. The Nitros ended tournament action by edging visiting El Dorado of Placentia, 3-2, after falling to Rosary Academy of Fullerton, 6-4, and El Segundo, 7-5, earlier that day. No individual statistics were reported to the Glendale News-Press.

Glendale (1-5 overall) is scheduled to play Aliso Niguel High of Aliso Viejo in a nonleague game on Saturday, March 12, at noon.
