The Executive Board of the Verdugo Hills Council selected Andrew Sisolak to serve as scout executive of the Verdugo Hills Council effective Feb. 1.
Sisolak began his scouting career in 2008 as a district executive in the Crescent Bay District of the Western Los Angeles County Council, and subsequently became a senior district executive of that same district. He went on to serve as a district director, assistant director of field service, and in 2015 director of field service, all at WLACC. In January 2021, Sisolak began serving as the interim scout executive of the Verdugo Hills Council while concurrently holding his director of field service role for WLACC.
Andrew grew up in a scouting family, where both parents volunteered at the unit and district level and both of his siblings participated in scouting. Sisolak is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, and Wood Badge trained. Before his adult professional career, he served on the staff of BSA Camp Whitsett for nine summers, eventually serving as its camp director for an additional three.
He is a graduate with honors of University California, Davis, with a degree in history and Native American studies.
Sisolak is a Rotarian, Son of the American Legion and serves on the Executive Committee of the Valley Industry & Commerce Association. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, gardening and working with his hands.
He also enjoys spending time on wild adventures and remodeling his home with his family including his wife, Jackie, and daughter, Verity. Jackie Sisolak serves as an emergency department nurse at Cedars Sinai and participated as a youth in scouting, earning her bronze, gold, silver and ranger awards in the Venturing program.
“Please join us in congratulating Andrew as he joins in partnership with the passionate volunteers and staff of the Verdugo Hills Council to deliver quality scouting experiences to the young people of the communities we serve,” a statement from the Executive Board of the Verdugo Hills Council said.
Sisolak’s email is andrew.sisolak@scouting.org.
