Dr. Kingman Ho has joined Adventist Health Glendale as medical officer. He brings deep experience as both a physician and operational leader that has led to marked improvements in physician engagement and alignment, significant care redesign, physician and payor contracting, and the development of hospital partnerships that drive innovation and additional service access for patients.
Ho came from Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, a 357-bed acute care hospital and Level II trauma center and advanced stroke center in the Santa Clarita Valley, where he has served as chief medical officer since 2016 and, additionally, Care Innovation Officer and senior vice president of Professional Services since 2018.
Among his quality improvement programs have been instituting Enhanced Recovery After Surgery resulting in a 20% reduction in length of stay and a 59% reduction in mortality as well as reducing CMS all-cause 30-day readmissions by more than 9%.
In addition, Ho designed a health-care delivery platform integrating health-care customer relationship management, virtual and traditional health-care access points and service logistics delivery and, most recently, has led the hospital’s COVID-19 response.
Before Henry Mayo, Ho founded an internal medicine hospitalist group and served as chief medical director of Adult Hospitalist Medicine with University of Washington Medicine Valley Medical Center, a Level III Trauma Center in Seattle, from 2010-2016.
Board certified in internal medicine, Ho previously worked as a clinical instructor, physician shareholder, director of internal medicine and vice president of operations at a Seattle multispecialty medical group practice with more than 80 health-care providers.
Ho earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Johns Hopkins and his M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey — Robert Wood Johnson. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn., and earned an MBA from the University of Washington Foster School of Business.
