When the COVID-19 pandemic appeared in the Southland in March, Dignity Health-Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center took appropriate steps to prepare for the potential influx of patients. Hospitals incurred significant expenses to sustain staffing, build surge capacity and secure equipment while canceling most of its scheduled procedures.
According to a spokesperson, the Glendale Memorial Health Foundation knew that its philanthropy efforts would be critical during the pandemic, so it created the Emergency Response/COVID-19 Fund. This fund provides for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other necessary resources to support the hospital and community during this difficult time.
“Receiving this $100,000 charitable donation from the S.H. Ho Foundation is a reminder that Glendale Memorial Hospital has more than the support of our private Foundation, it has the support of our whole community,” said GMHHC Hospital President Jill Welton.
David Ho, governor of the S.H. Ho Foundation, said, “The Ho Foundation is proud to continue our support of Glendale Memorial. We are extremely grateful for their amazing caregivers who are here for us in our community during these challenging times. As Sandra Day O’Connor said, ‘Be grateful and show it.’ This gift is a gift of gratitude.”
